Ph.D. Program «Biomolecular Structure and Mechanism»

You can benefit from our Ph.D. program in many ways:

Comprehensive PhD Training. The PhD Program in Biomolecular Structure and Mechanism offers extensive and challenging postgraduate education for students in biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, structural biology, and related fields from around the world.
Curriculum

Ambitious research projects. The successful completion of a research project forms the core of the PhD training. Students carry out their projects within one of the participating research groups, all of which are recognized leaders in their respective fields. Working in these groups is both intellectually challenging and highly rewarding. A key advantage of the program is the strong network and collaboration between many of the groups, which fosters a stimulating and supportive research environment through shared training activities.Research Groups

Leading life science universities. Students of this program are enrolled at one of the participating Universities, which is either the University of Zurich or the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich. Both universities are among the leading institutions in the life sciences, and earning a PhD from either provides a strong foundation for a successful career in the field. Students particularly benefit from the wide range of training and educational opportunities offered by both universities to graduate students.

Institute of Molecular Biology & Biophysics (ETH)
Department of Biochemistry (UZH)

Life Science Zurich Graduate School. The PhD program is part of the Life Science Zurich Graduate School. Through joint initiatives, retreats, and other shared activities, a strong network is formed among students across neighboring programs. This network is an invaluable asset of the PhD experience, fostering knowledge exchange, collaborations, and professional connections that extend well beyond the completion of the program.Life Science Zurich Graduate School
